Songkran Day\u00a0is a national holiday and a special occasion for family reunions. Young Thais, no matter where they are, try their best to return home and celebrate with their families. In Bangkok, where many residents come from other provinces, the city looks almost empty on Songkran Day.<\/p>\n

For the Thais who are Buddhists, the day begins with merit making in remembrance of departed souls, Birds and fish are set free. Later in the day, they visit their elders for anointment rite, The elders in return wish the youngsters good health, longevity and prosperity. In many provinces the main Buddha image is towed in procession around the area.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/h3>\n

  1. To comply with the University’s policy to preserve and disseminate Thai arts and culture<\/li>\n
  2. To disseminate Thai culture to both Thai and foreign students<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    We\u2019re bringing the Songkran spirit<\/strong> to Suvarnabhumi Campus on Tuesday, April 9, 2025,<\/strong> and you\u2019re totally invited.<\/div>\n


    \nHere\u2019s what\u2019s going down:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    8:00 a.m. \u2013 Alms Giving
    \n<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Start your day with good vibes by giving alms to monks at the Sri Rattanagosin Gate (in front of CL Building)<\/p>\n

    10:30 a.m. \u2013 Water Pouring Ceremony<\/span>
    \n<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Join the beautiful \u201cRod Nam Dam Hua\u201d tradition at the Thai Pavilion. We\u2019ll be paying respect to our AU administrators and enjoying the calm, cultural side of Songkran.
    \n(And yes, there\u2019s lunch at 11:30.<\/strong> Don\u2019t miss it!)<\/p>\n

    Drop by AU Plaza (near Krungsri Bank) to sprinkle scented water and make a wish for a fresh start<\/p>\n
